Dale’s BIO

Dale Carringer started his career at the bottom of the Information Technology (IT) ladder as so to speak; “Second Shift Mainframe Computer Operator – Trainee”!  You know the guy they send out for coffee?  That was Dale.

That was more than 40 years ago.  The first six years of his career were spent working for a men’s apparel manufacturer/retailer.  During this time he realized rapid career ascension through several positions: Applications Programmer, Systems Programmer, Systems Analyst, Project Leader, Project Manger, Computer Operations Manager and etc.

Then a change in career opportunity lured Dale to join an Atlanta-based public warehousing and distribution firm.  What a challenge, all Dale and his IT teammates had to do was to design, develop, test and install the distributed systems that supported this company’s warehousing, logistics and distribution business operations and have it ready for beta-testing in one year!  Twelve months!  If you’ve never had one of those opportunities you simply don’t know what you’ve missed.  And, yes!  We made it.

Later, Dale worked for a women’s hosiery manufacturer, distributor and retailer in the position of Systems Manager. In this position Dale was responsible for managing the systems development and maintenance activities for this company’s IT systems support department.  This was accomplished through hiring qualified technicians to fill developer, designer, manager and administrator positions. Performance monitoring and measurement matrices were established to ensure B to C, on-time-within-budget performance.    Again, he was in the middle of another leading edge marketing concept that required leading edge technology solutions.

Then about 30 years ago Dale’s career took what was to become a most challenging, yet rewarding turn.  Dale entered the realm of IT consulting services and took a job as an IT Consultant.  This change opened his career horizons to previously un-imagined opportunities.  Later, he would work in Personnel Recruiting, Account Management (a fancy name meaning “sales”), Branch and Regional Management, M&A assessment and assimilation and as SVP of Special Services.  When Dale retired from this career, after 23 years in the consulting business, he had orchestrated the growth of his employer’s southeast operations to more than $30mm in annual revenue.    What a ride!

During Dale’s career he has done a lot.  He’s seen and observed a lot.  He’s made some real bonehead decisions and moves that he would no doubt like to do over.  And by golly, he’s done a lot of things right!

All of this is to make one simple point.  Dale has a lot of IT management experience.  He’s been there!  He’s observed a lot of technical and personnel management evolutions.  Recently, he commented, “It’s simply amazing how far technology has come and how processes and tools have evolved, yet the human element has changed very little!  Personnel are still the critical path. You still have to find them, hire them, educate and otherwise develop them, motivate them and alas, replace them.”

Dale Carringer has proven throughout his career that he’s pretty good at judging character.  If your staffing need(s) could use the depth of experience he brings to the table simply contact him and get the advantage of his experience on your staffing effort.  Dale is prepared to work with you and on behalf of you in the recruitment of your personnel needs.  Caution! If yours is an unrealistic hiring objective, don’t worry.  He’ll tell you!  In a nice way of course, but he will tell you what he thinks.  Not simply what he thinks you want to hear.  After all, there are literally hundreds (or perhaps even thousands) of recruiting firms who can do that for you.
